Germany defeat Argentina in thrilling encounter.

Germany defeat Argentina in thrilling world cup final.

Germany and Argentina brought an end to the 2014 world cup final with the former coming out victorious, after Mario Gotze's extra-time volley sealed a 1-0 win over Argentina.
Argentina had quite a number of goal scoring oppurtunities, but were unable to make them count.
It was a serious encounter at the Maracana, goalless until the 113th minute of extra time.
Higuain had a great chance, but it couldn't prove a point, after an early free-kick for the Germans conceded by Marcos Rojo was wasted by Toni Kroos.
Napoli striker Higuain came on top again, but it was a wasted effort, after Kroos back header allowed Higuain to race goalwards centrally but the Napoli striker shot it wide.
The golden ball winner Lionel Messi also got behind the German backline just before the break but Manuel Neuer was there to stop him.
Both teams continued in the second half with great attacking play but none could convert.
Penalties were already on the way but in the 113th minute there was a winner.
Schurrle who came off the bench for kramer, charged down the left flank and fired a cross into the box allowing Gotze to flick the ball into the back of the net.
Italian refree Nicola Rizzoli called time on the 2014 world cup final allowing Germany take the trophy home.
